Easy and Wearable Holiday Makeup- Red Lips

Hello Beauties!

Today I'm going to share with you an easy makeup look suitable for holiday time with neutral eyes with a hint of gold and all-time classic red lips. For this look I used just 3 neutral shade matte eyeshadows and MAC's Reflect Gold glitter which gives such a lovely look without being too much like typical gold glitter. For the lips I used my favorite absolute red NARS Dragon girl lipstick and gave my lips some dimension with MAC Nightmoth lip liner using it on the edges of my lips.

Henna Tattoo- Hint Kınası- Τατουάζ Χένας- मेंहदी

Hello friends

Today I'm sharing some of the henna designs I made the last few days for practice. I thought it would be good to share these now that eid is approaching. I'd like to say that I used to use premade henna-mehndi cones at first but now I make my own henna paste with 100% natural henna because I don't know how safe the premade henna cones are. I've seen some photos on the internet with very bad allergic reactions of people from "black henna" and I don't know about it because I've never used it but I decided to stay away from all the mass produced henna products. So I buy natural (or even organic) henna powder and make my own henna cones that I know are safe for me. By the way there is no such thing as black henna, henna (lawsonia inermis) only stains a color in the range of orange-red-burgundy-brown NEVER black. The so-called "black henna" may contain para-phenylenediamine, also known as PPD which is used in hair dyes and can cause some severe reactions on some people, beware.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan inspired makeup look

Hello beauties,

This is a celebrity inspired makeup look I did a few days ago but today I found the chance to edit and upload it. I chose a look from Aishwarya Rai, for those of you who don't know, she is an Indian actress-model and she is the Miss World 1994. Her beauty is out of this world! Her big blue-green eyes and her gorgeous face is mind blowing. Choosing a look to recreate was difficult because all were so amazing but this one was a definite standout for me. It is a neutral kind of makeup with lined eyes, ombre pink lips and contoured cheeks. I hope you like it.

New blog name + Giveaway!

Hello my lovely friends!

I am excited to announce you my blog's new name: Beauty by Emel. To be honest I was wanting a change for a while now because the old name wasn't reflecting the contents of the blog whereas the new name says it all, 'beauty' which comprises all beauty related things and Emel is my name obviously. I also have changed the look of the blog by changing the header.

At this point I would like to give you a  brief information about me and my blog especially for those who are new on this blog. If you have noticed I sometimes write in Greek or Turkish. That is because I'm kind of a bilingual. I speak both languages fluently. I got my education in both languages and I can't say either of the two is my native language. So I may sometimes write in Greek or Turkish instead of English but you don't worry because you can choose the language of your choice from the bar on the upper right corner of the page to translate the posts. As far as the English, I'm not fluent I'm at a proficient level but I love to write mostly in English because it challenges me and keeps me in touch with the language.

After having clarified the issue of the language I would like to announce you that in order to celebrate the changes on the blog I'm hosting a new giveaway! The lucky winner will get a MAC lipstick of their choice!

This giveaway will be open until June 30th. The winner will be selected at random from qualifying entries below through Rafflecopter. The winner will be notified via Facebook or email within 48 hours.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade Browns (mini review & swatches)

Hello friends!

Today's blog is about the favorite brow product of many makeup lovers, the Anastasia Beverly hills Dipbrow Pomade. I have been using the dark brown shade the last 4 months now and I really like it. It has a gel/cream texture and is available in many shades and its waterproof.  Dark shades can also be used as eyeliner so its 2 products in 1. It's easy to apply. I apply it with the Anastasia Beverly Hills #12 double sided brush or the MAC 208 brow brush. You can create a very soft or very defined look by adjusting the amount of the product you use. I usually prefer a natural look and use a very little amount. I chose 4 of the brown shades which I think match my haircolor. So lets see the swatches.

Dark brown and ash brown are cool toned, chocolate is warm and medium brown is neutral in my opinion. Out of the four Dark brown is the one that suits my skintone and hair color best.

From left to right: Dark Brown, Chocolate, Ash Brown, Medium Brown

and this is after I washed my arm with soap and water... This stuff is really waterproof, you need special waterproof eye makeup remover to remove it completely from your eyebrows.

These and other new shades are available at Beautybay.com where I also got mine.

Let me know if you would like to see brow swatches too on these shades.
